Quarterfinal field was set up on Thursday at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz with top two seeds Aryna Sabalenka and Elise Mertens leading the way.
Seed No.1 Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus recorded a 6-0 6-3 victory over Swiss qualifier Stefanie Voegele. The result is straightforward and the match lasted just 67 minutes, but it should be noted that Sabalenka faced nine break points and managed to save all of them. Sabalenka will next face Oceane Dodin, who advanced with a 6-4 6-4 win over Sorana Cirstea today.
Second seed Elise Mertens closed Thursday’s action and completed the quarterfinal field as she overcame veteran Vera Zvonareva 6-4 5-7 6-2 at night. Mertens’ opponent in the final eight will be fifth seed Veronika Kudermetova who defeated Arantxa Rus 6-4 1-6 6-3 earlier in the day.
Sixth seed Nadia Podoroska fought past Camila Giorgi 6-7(4) 6-1 6-4, setting up a quarterfinal meeting with fourth seed Ekaterina Alexandrova. Quarterfinal pair determined on Wednesday was Barbora Krejcikova vs. Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
