Czech world number six Karolina Pliskova has hired Sascha Bajin as her new coach.

Bajin is one of the most famous WTA coaches, but also somewhat controversial, as some of his partnerships ended quite abruptly and without clear explanation. His last cooperation was with Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska, which lasted nine months and ended in September.

Bajin’s illustrious career includes an eight-year cooperation with 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams as a hitting partner and he held the same role for two-time Australian Open winner Victoria Azarenka. Moreover, he led Naomi Osaka to her first two Grand Slam titles and a number one ranking, but right after the Japanese’s 2019 Australian Open triumph they split. Just before starting working with Yastremska, Bajin briefly coached Kristina Mladenovic.

Earlier this month, Pliskova ended her one-year partnership with coach Daniel Vallverdu. It was a mutual agreement to split, as time commitments were a problem.
