After the pandemic limited her comeback in 2020, Kim Clijsters is ready to rejoin the WTA Tour at the upcoming Miami Open and Volvo Car Open.

In February 2020, Clijsters ended her eight-year absence from competitive tennis, but has since played only three matches. The former world No.1 and four-time Grand Slam champion lost to Garbine Muguruza at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, to Johanna Konta at the Abierto GNP Seguros, and to Ekaterina Alexandrova at the US Open.

Let’s hope that 2021 will allow Clijsters to get into the rhythm. The member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame will restart her comeback at the Miami Open, followed by the Volvo Car Open. She received wildcards for both tournaments.

The 37-year-old Clijsters has won Miami twice, in 2005 and 2010, while her 2021 appearance in Charleston will be her debut there. The Miami Open is scheduled to start on March 22, the Volvo Car Open begins on April 5.
