Naomi Osaka is not going to continue her season right after the French Open. After unexpectedly leaving Paris because Grand Slam officials didn’t have understanding for her mental health needs, the Japanese is also skipping the start of the grasscourt season.

The 23-year-old Osaka is currently regrouping in her Los Angeles home, where she arrived quickly after making an unprecedented decision to withdraw from Roland Garros because tennis officials failed to understand her need to not attend press conferences in Paris. The former world No.1 needs more time away from the tour, so she’s also withdrawn from her first scheduled grasscourt event, the Bett1Open in Berlin, Germany, set to take place from June 14 to June 20.

Wimbledon starts on June 28, so one has to question whether Osaka also plans to miss the grasscourt Grand Slam this year. (photo: Jimmie48)

  1. “…because tennis officials failed to understand her need to not attend press conferences in Paris.”

She is the one who failed to communicate, that blame lies with her and no one else – it’s hard to understand someone when refuse to respond to you.
