American world No.4 Sofia Kenin is dating her coach Max Wenders, as we can conclude from the WTA player’s latest Instagram stories.
The 22-year-old Kenin posted a photo of herself hugging her coach as he was lying on her chest while they were riding in the backseat of a car. She wrote “Happy birthday, babe <3”, tagged him and said “I love you” through the use of an #ily hashtag. In the next story, the 2020 Australian Open champion wrote: “I hope you enjoyed your birthday. There’s more to come.”
Ahead of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in May, Kenin announced a split from her father Alexander Kenin as coach and worked on putting together a new technical team. That’s when she started training with Wenders.
According to The Times of India, the 26-year-old Wenders (born on August 15, 1995) is a Dutch tennis player who realized early on that he didn’t have enough financial means to launch a professional career. He’s familiar with the WTA Tour, having been a hitting partner for 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko, assistant coach of Estonia’s Anett Kontaveit, coach of Demi Schuurs, etc.
