The 28-year-old Zanevska said “yes” just three days after losing to Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk in the first round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. Struck by the terrifying situation in her home country, Zanevska realized that important things in life should not wait, as “tomorrow might not come.” Therefore, the couple didn’t postpone the wedding until the perfect moment and crowned their love right away. The Belgian WTA player born in Odessa is now Mrs. Schmidt.

A funny fact is that exactly two years before their wedding day the couple got into lockdown together and said “we kill each other after lockdown or we get married”. Fortunately, future brought the latter.

Zanevska is at a career-high singles ranking of No.68.
