The Coco CG1 is the first New Balance shoe designed in collaboration with Coco Gauff, as the teenager joins an elite list of WTA players who have been honored with their signature sneaker models.
Having signed with New Balance at the young age of 14, the world No.11 Gauff is now taking the cooperation to the next level by creating the Coco CG1, a high-performance shoe influenced by basketball silhouettes and ’90s aesthetics. There are two colorways, called Pompey and DigiCoco.
The Pompey style features an ombre section that ranges from vibrant apricot to purple. The shoe draws inspiration from Coco’s first tennis court in her hometowh of Delray Beach, Florida. She picked up the racquet at the Pompey Park tennis courts, as her dad introduced her to the sport. His mantra is written on the right toe of the shoe: “You can change the world with your racket.” Coco’s signature is on the tongue and on the lace jewel, while the coordinates of the Pompey Park are along the rubber.
“The entire team at New Balance from design, to marketing, truly cares about me as a person and not just an athlete and that relationship allowed us to create the Coco CG1,” says Team New Balance athlete Coco Gauff. “I signed with New Balance at such a young age and I am so excited to know that I will continue to work with them for a long time into the future! The Coco CG1 is a vintage looking shoe with a modern twist, and I am so excited to get this in stores and see how people style it!”
The 18-year-old Gauff debuted the shoe at the recent exhibition in Atlanta, while the official launch will be on August 26th. The pair is priced at $170.
