The sixth seeded Garcia, who edged out Daria Kasatkina in the last group match yesterday, dominated Sunday’s semifinal against Sakkari. The only setback Garcia experienced was when Sakkari broke back to go from 1-3 to 2-3 in the first set. The Greek couldn’t level, though, as the Frenchwoman broke her serve once again and stormed through the remainder of the match.

In the entire first set, Sakkari hit just one winner to Garcia’s ten. In the second set Sakkari improved that particular stat, but still Garcia opened with an insurmountable 4-0 lead.

Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka will play the other semifinal later on Sunday.
