Francisco Roig is a Spanish coach who was a part of Rafael Nadal’s team since 2005. It was only last week that Nadal officially announced that Roig was leaving. The 22-time Grand Slam champion shared the kindest words about the man that worked in his team for 18 seasons, alongside his uncle Toni and subsequently alongside Carlos Moya and recently Marc Lopez:

“Francis is a great technician who knows tennis very well and has helped me a lot to get better and better. I have only words of thanks and wish him all the luck in the world in his new project.”

The 2017 US Open champion Stephens announced the new partnership on social media:

“Happy to have Francis Roig join my team as my new coach! Here’s to a successful journey together, let’s get to work.”
