Asics is ready to introduce a new flagship tennis shoe — the Gel Resolution 9 which focuses on stability and improved lateral breaking time during baseline movement. Iga Swiatek on the women’s side and Matteo Berrettini on the ATP Tour are expected to wear this model.
The core update in the Gel Resolution 9 is the improved strength of the material in some areas and the reduced intensity in other areas with the goal of minimizing lateral braking time in order to allow players on the baseline to more quickly return from the outside to the center of the court. According to the research conducted by Asics Institute of Sports Science, the Gel Resolution 9 provides a 4.4% improvement in supporting dynamic footwork compared to its predecessor, Gel Resolution 8.
This performance boost relies on the evolving Dynawall technology optimized to reduce the deflection in the upper and provide better fit around the forefoot during fast-paced movements. In addition, an updated construction of the outsole provides a larger contact area to the ground allowing for a stable landing on the court.
“With the game evolving and balls being hit in faster pace, athletes are required to move faster and change directions from high speed and recover quickly after their shots to prepare for the next shot,” said Azumi Taoka from Asics Institute of Sports Science. “We took athlete feedback and tested against previous models to provide the support that allows them to feel confident and allowing them to brake at a high speed but be ready to anticipate the next shot on the tennis courts.”
The Asics Gel Resolution 9 is available for women and men at Tennis Warehouse USA and Tennis Warehouse Europe.
