As modern tennis has evolved into an ever more demanding, fast game, the latest Adidas tennis shoe — Adizero Cybersonic — is on a quest to deliver unparalleled high-performance in extreme speeds and rapid changes of direction.
Adidas has tested technologies that will give players an energy boost when accelerating and help them stay stable as they change direction quickly to readily respond to their opponent’s next move.
The Adizero Cybersonic, tested and validated by pro athletes, features the following technological innovations:
- Energyrods – Adopted from running and used for the first time in an Adidas tennis shoe, the Energyrods are located in the heel and their purpose is to provide lightweight propulsion that will help players execute rapid changes of direction;
- Lightstrike midsole – The dual-density Lightstrike midsole and rubber compound sole enable players to be more efficient, consistent and precise with their footwork;
- Adituff abrasion zone – The recycled Adituff engineered sport-specific abrasion zone allows players to push harder whilst keeping balance.
“Our aim with the new Adizero Cybersonic was to make the impossible possible when it comes to creating a shoe that’s more efficient, consistent and precise,” says Daniel Neuerburg, Adidas director of tennis and court sports. “The stability and burst of pace that the Cybersonic offers enables our players to be laser-focused and respond to their opponent’s next move – faster.”
The Adizero Cybersonic, Adidas’ new leading speed solution, will be available from January 9, 2023. The tennis shoe will be offered in a blue fusion and pulse mint colorway for women and a blue fusion and solar red colorway for men. Several Adidas-sponsored tennis pros are expected to switch to the Cybersonic model in 2023.
