After more than five years of dating, American tennis couple Madison Keys and Bjorn Fratangelo got engaged and announced this new stage of their relationship with an Instagram post.
Holding her fiancé’s hand, the 28-year-old Keys showed her beautiful engagement ring to the world on social media. She captioned the photo with the word “forever” and a white heart emoji.
Madison and Bjorn made their relationship Instagram official in December 2017, a few months after the WTA star reached her maiden and so far only Grand Slam final at the US Open.
At the same major four years later, they teamed up in mixed doubles for the first time. Madison reflected on her doubles partnership with Bjorn in New York: “To be able to have a moment on court together I think is definitely something that is going to stick in my mind.” Bjorn said: “I think just to play with someone who you love and who you care about the most [is special].”
Madison and Bjorn had known each other long before they started dating in 2017. They trained at the same facility in Florida and were part of the same friend circle.
A lot of tennis players and tournaments rushed to Instagram comments to congratulate the couple on engagement. Seemingly the most excited is Sloane Stephens, who wrote: “Yesssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are getting married!!!!!!!!!!!” Jessica Pegula commented: “Bjorn [locked] that up,” with a lock and clapping hands emojis. ATP player Frances Tiafoe is impressed with the jewel: “That ring is tuuuuffff.”
The 29-year-old Fratangelo won the boys’ singles title at Roland Garros 2011 and turned pro in 2012. He reached the ATP Top 100 in 2016 at a career-high ranking of No.99. He still has no singles and doubles ATP titles in his résumé. His wife-to-be has won six WTA titles and peaked at the No.7 singles ranking.
