The 2017 US Open finalist Keys eased through the first set, racing through each game except for the penultimate game that featured six deuces. As the second set unfolded, Pegula managed to break back once, equalizing the score at 3-3. However, Keys regained her dominance, seizing control of the remaining games and ultimately secured victory on her very first match point in Arthur Ashe Stadium.

In the quarterfinals, Keys will face reigning Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova, who defeated American world No.59 Peyton Stearns 6-7(3) 6-3 6-2 in Louis Armstrong Stadium.
