Elina Svitolina recently unveiled a new tattoo on her inner shoulder, explaining that it is dedicated to both her daughter, Skaï, and her native country, Ukraine.

Offering a close-up view of her discreet tattoo—a cursive letter “ï” adorning her inner shoulder—Svitolina provided details about the profound significance behind this new addition to her body art:

I begin the year with a significant tattoo. This written symbol “ï” possesses crucial meaning to Ukraine, acts as a charm for Ukrainian prosperity and represents the idea of Ukrainian independence. Additionally, the name of my daughter Skaï incorporates this symbol, thereby enhancing the strength it holds.

From the very beginning of the Russian invasion in Ukraine in February 2022, Svitolina has used her platform and influence to advocate for her country. Notably, she has collaborated closely with President Volodymyr Zelensky, serving as an ambassador for his initiative, United24, dedicated to raising funds in support of Ukraine.

While the recent months have been heartbreaking for Svitolina as a Ukrainian, they have also been the most beautiful period of her life, as she has embraced motherhood in October 2022 and enjoyed moments with her daughter, Skaï.

The 29-year-old Svitolina started the 2024 tennis season victoriously, with a notable 6-4 6-3 victory over former world No.1 Caroline Wozniacki in the first round of the ASB Classic in Auckland. Her next challenge in the second round will be against another Grand Slam champion, Emma Raducanu. Svitolina embarked on her journey to New Zealand accompanied by her baby girl and her husband, Gael Monfils. (source: Tennis World USA)
