It looks like Karolina Pliskova will have a surprise for us as she steps on the court to play her first-round match against Elena Rybakina at the 2024 Australian Open. The latest photos from the Czech’s practice sessions in Melbourne suggest that she’s switched camps from Fila to Adidas!
The former world No.1 Pliskova, once the most prominent Fila representative, will not sport the company’s new Backspin women’s collection at the season’s first Grand Slam, rather, it seems that she’ll join Caroline Wozniacki, Maria Sakkari, Elina Svitolina, and other big names representing Adidas. There is still no official confirmation of this information, but Pliskova’s attire in Melbourne strongly suggests she’s with the three stripes brand now.

This marks a significant shift in the landscape of WTA fashion, considering Pliskova’s eight-year period as the face of Fila, a partnership that began in 2016. It’s worth noting that just earlier this month, at the tournaments in Brisbane and Adelaide, Pliskova was still gracing the courts in Fila attire. Prior to her affiliation with Fila, Pliskova sported the styles of the Chinese brand Li Ning.

We’ll see which exact outfit she’ll choose from Adidas’ freshest lineup. Will she rock the playful light green Melbourne Pro Dress, or will she unleash her style by mixing and matching some separates?
The stage is set for a big-hitting opening-round clash between Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon champion, and Pliskova, the 2021 Wimbledon runner-up. Pliskova, despite grappling with a series of injuries in recent months, brings her seasoned expertise to the court. Meanwhile, Rybakina, last year’s finalist at the Australian Open, seems to be in stellar form, setting the stage for another impressive campaign. Her commanding victory at this month’s Brisbane International, where she dropped just 15 games across five matches, signals her readiness for a formidable run once again.
