Anett Kontaveit is expecting her first child. The retired Estonian tennis player announced the news by posting a photo with her long-term boyfriend Brent Lepistu.
Dressed elegantly in all-black attire and posing for a professional photographer, the couple shared the happy news on Instagram, as Kontaveit exposed her pregnancy belly. “New family member on the way,” wrote the former world No.2, who ended her tennis career at Wimbledon 2023.
As we can conclude from Kontaveit’s Instagram profile, her relationship with Lepistu started in 2022, at least that’s when she started posting photos of them together. Lepistu is a fellow Estonian and a fellow athlete. He is a professional soccer player who plays for Premium Liiga club FCI Levadia as a midfielder. He is two years older than Kontaveit.

After a remarkable 13-year career on the Hologic WTA Tour, Kontaveit bid farewell to professional tennis in July 2023, citing lumbar disc degeneration. In 2021, Kontaveit experienced her most successful tennis season, securing four titles. Throughout her career, she amassed a total of six WTA titles, with her first victory at ‘s-Hertogenbosch in 2017 holding a special place as her most cherished moment. Her other notable results include the 2020 Australian Open quarterfinals and becoming the first Estonian to qualify for the WTA Finals.
Recently, the 28-year-old Kontaveit teased her upcoming book, offering fans a glimpse into her journey to the pinnacle of tennis success. The book, set to be published in November 2024, promises an intimate narrative of her rise to stardom and the challenges she conquered along the way. Estonian writer and journalist Eia Uus is credited as the author, hinting that the book will likely be in Estonian.
