Anna Kournikova has made a rare public appearance after more than two years, but her outing raised concerns as she was seen in a wheelchair at Bal Harbour Shops in Miami, Florida. Now, the reason behind her limited mobility has been revealed.

Accompanied by two of her three children, the former doubles world No. 1 was photographed being pushed at the luxury shopping mall’s car park. Dressed casually, she wore a medical boot on one foot, which immediately sparked speculation among fans about her condition. Despite the concerning sight, she appeared to be in good spirits, chatting with her kids and friends.

Speculation about her health was quickly put to rest by Isabel Preysler, Kournikova’s mother-in-law and a well-known socialite. Speaking to HOLA! before catching a flight, Preysler reassured everyone that the injury was nothing serious. “It’s just a minor foot injury,” she explained. “It’s a small sprain, but you know how painful those can be.”

Though this latest injury is reportedly minor, Kournikova has dealt with persistent physical setbacks throughout her career. In fact, injuries played a major role in her early retirement from professional tennis in 2003 at just 21 years old. Reflecting on her struggles back then, she admitted to The Guardian, “Basically, I’ve had an injury nearly every single year.”

Now 43, Kournikova has mostly stayed out of the public eye, focusing on family life with Enrique Iglesias and their three children. While her recent sighting in a wheelchair may have initially caused concern, it seems she’ll be back on her feet in no time. (source: Hello Magazine)
