A fresh start after years of emotional turmoil
The former world No. 4 and 2000 Wimbledon semifinalist spent the majority of her adult life in a relationship with Tin Bikic. Their breakup was a crushing blow for Dokic, leaving her feeling completely lost, to the point that she was even close to committing suicide in 2022. The heartbreak came on top of years of emotional struggle, including the pain of her estranged relationship with her abusive father—who recently passed away in Serbia, a funeral she chose not to attend.
When announcing the end of her relationship with Bikic, Dokic wrote:
“This is hard, I am in pain, I am hurt, I am lost and right now it’s all about just being able to get out of bed in the morning and putting one foot in front of the other. I will have to learn to walk again before I can run when it comes to love and happiness but I will give this healing process my all.”
