Less than a year after retiring from professional tennis, Shelby Rogers has announced that she’s expecting her first child! The former world No. 30 shared the joyful news on Instagram, revealing that her baby is due in January 2026.
In the post, Rogers posed alongside her husband, John Slavik, and their two beloved dogs. The couple tied the knot in December 2023 in Rogers’ hometown of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. The pregnancy announcement caption read: “Expecting our first baby in January! We are so excited for this new adventure together!”

Rogers officially ended her tennis career at the 2024 US Open, where she fell in the opening round to fellow American Jessica Pegula. Reflecting on her decision to retire, she explained: “I always said that if my heart loves it and my body is healthy I would play this sport forever! But now my body is telling me it’s time.”
Throughout her career, Rogers reached two Grand Slam quarterfinals (Roland Garros 2016 and US Open 2020) and competed in three WTA finals (Bad Gastein 2014, Rio de Janeiro 2016, and San Jose 2022).
