Garbine Muguruza and her husband, Arthur Borges, have welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Marcos Borges Muguruza.

The former WTA world No. 1 shared the news on Instagram, posting two black-and-white photos — one of the newborn’s tiny feet and another of his little hand. “Our little miracle,” Muguruza wrote in the caption, revealing that Marcos was born a week ago.

Muguruza, who retired from professional tennis in 2024, married Borges in an intimate ceremony in Spain on October 5, 2024. Their love story feels straight out of a romance novel. The couple met by chance in 2021 during the US Open, crossing paths in New York’s Central Park. Borges, a businessman and model, recognized Muguruza as he walked by, wished her luck at the tournament, and an instant connection followed. Their relationship became public later that year at the Akron WTA Finals in Guadalajara, when Borges affectionately celebrated Muguruza’s title win during the trophy ceremony.

The two-time Grand Slam champion announced her pregnancy in September 2025. Since stepping away from the tour, Muguruza has remained closely connected to the sport, serving as the WTA Finals tournament director and co-director of the Madrid Open.
