Sloane Stephens and Jozy Altidore are getting a divorce after four years of marriage, the tennis star announced on Instagram.

The Grand Slam champion and the former U.S. men’s national soccer player tied the knot on January 1, 2022, bringing a long-running love story to a celebratory milestone. Now, four years later, the couple has decided to go their separate ways.
“Jozy and I have decided to end our marriage,” the 32-year-old Sloane wrote in an Instagram statement. “With peace I am navigating this transition with mutual respect and kindly ask for privacy during this time.”
Stephens and Altidore have known each other since their school days in Florida. They first met at Boca Prep, when Stephens was in fifth grade and Altidore in seventh. Although their lives later took different paths as their athletic careers took off, fate reunited them years later in 2016 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. A conversation, exchanged numbers, and a dinner soon followed, marking the beginning of their romance.
After about three years of dating, Altidore proposed to Stephens in April 2019 with a memorable surprise. Under the pretense of buying a painting, he brought her to an art gallery, where family and close friends were waiting. Instead of artwork, the walls were lined with oversized canvases featuring photos from their relationship and tributes to the people who mattered most in their lives. The couple celebrated their wedding at the St. Regis in Bal Harbour, Florida.
