Coco Gauff’s mom drops a blunt message to friends begging for US Open tickets

Friends and family hoping to score a free US Open ticket to watch Coco Gauff just got a very public reality check from her mom. Candi Gauff appears to have had enough of the ticket requests and decided to settle the matter once and for all with a blunt public announcement.

Coco’s mom has officially closed the ticket window, and she made sure everyone got the memo, apparently not caring if she sounded rude while turning down ticket requests in a very public Instagram post.

“I apologize in advance for this blunt, but necessary statement,” she wrote. “Unfortunately, I will not be able to hook you up with a ticket,” she said, telling people to make their own arrangements and purchase tickets.

But she wasn’t finished. Candi then schooled the ticket hopefuls: “Side note, never ask for more than 2 tickets.” She also reminded everyone that Coco has her own circle to consider now: “Coco is grown now and she has her own friends that she is honoring tickets for the match.”

I can imagine the number of messages Candi must have been getting for her to feel the need to make this announcement publicly.

The 2023 US Open champion Coco, one of the favorites for the title this year, must have felt a bit uncomfortable, responding to her mother with, “you’re funny for this” and “lady 😂😂😂.” Jessica Pegula, however, was super direct in her support, commenting, “Say it louder for the people in the back.”
