For the second consecutive year Iga Swiatek is driving away from Stuttgart in a brand new Porsche. Just like in 2022, the Pole defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the 2023 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix final, improving her perfect win-loss record at the WTA 500 tournament to 8-0.
During an on-court interview following her title defense, the world No.1 Swiatek expressed her wish to take home a blue Porsche Taycan Turbo S Sport Turismo.
The 21-year-old winner of 13 career titles revealed that the car model was actually the decision of her father Tomasz: “Thank you to my dad, he’s going to choose the car probably, so if he chooses wrong it’s his fault.” She quickly corrected herself, saying that it’s impossible to go wrong with a Porsche.
After grabbing her car keys, Swiatek settled into the driver’s seat and started the engine without hesitation. After a few honks of the horn, she confidently navigated the clay court, waving to the audience through the window with her left hand.
Last year, Swiatek added a red Porsche Taycan GTS Sport Turismo to her car collection.
This marks the third time that Swiatek is defending a title in her career, after doing so at Rome 2021-22 and Doha 2022-23. Moreover, she has become the first player to defend the Stuttgart title since Germany’s Angelique Kerber achieved the feat in 2016.
