While the world is speculating what caused Konstantin Koltsov’s fall from the 23rd floor of the St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort in Miami, whether it was a suicide or he was too drunk and accidentally rolled over the fence, tennis star Aryna Sabalenka issued a short but shocking statement revealing that at the time of his passing they had already ended their long-term relationship.
Two days after the former hockey player’s death, Sabalenka shared a short statement on Instagram, shedding new light on the situation:
Konstantin’s death is an unthinkable tragedy, and while we were no longer together, my heart is broken. Please respect my privacy and his family’s privacy during this difficult time.
This explains why Koltsov was alone in the hotel room, so that foul play was immediately ruled out as the cause of his passing. Additionally, his ex-wife Julija Mihailova, with whom he shares three sons, revealed that empty alcohol bottles were found in his room, suggesting that he may have been heavily intoxicated and accidentally fallen from the balcony.
The world No.2 Sabalenka takes the court on Friday, playing against good friend Paula Badosa in the second round of the Miami Open. Commenting on the encounter, Badosa said: “She’s a strong woman. I think she will get the power from somewhere. I hope it’s going to be a battle, a good match.”
