The day has finally come that Maria Sharapova plays the Fed Cup. The truth is she practically had to give her shear for the Fed Cup because otherwise she would have been left off Russia’s Olympic team. Anyway, defending champions Russia are in Israel now, playing against the home team, and currently the result is 1-1.

Israel’s No.1 tennis player Shahar Peer had given her country the lead with a 0-6 6-2 6-2 triumph over Dinara Safina, but Australian Open champion Maria Sharapova leveled with a 6-0 6-4 win over Tzipi Obziler.

Sharapova was stylish, as always, sporting a nice Nike outfit in her country’s red and white colors.
