Serena Williams got injured but not on the tennis court – she stepped on broken glass at a restaurant – and will now have to undergo surgery on her right foot. The world No.1 will skip three tournaments leading to the US Open – Istanbul, Cincinnati and Montreal.

“I’m so upset I won’t be able to play in the upcoming events because of this foot surgery,” said the American. “Thank you for all of your support. I can’t wait to get back on the courts.” (source: On the Baseline, photo: sr_cranks)
