Top seed Caroline Wozniacki has lost a total of just three games to advance to the fourth round of the US Open. In the first round the last year’s runner-up defeated Chelsey Gullickson 6-1 6-1, then in the second round she double-bageled Kai-Chen Chang in 47 minutes, and today she defeated Yung-Jan Chan 6-1 6-0.

Wozniacki’s opponent in the fourth round will be former champion Maria Sharapova who didn’t let American hope Beatrice Capra win a single game and advanced with a 6-0 6-0 victory. However, the match lasted more than an hour, 73 minutes. (photo: © Neal Trousdale)

  1. There was so much wind during these matches, so i wasn’t so enjoyable… But anyway, can’t wait for their clash 🙂

  2. Maria vs Caroline. I wonder who will win. Based on their current performance, Caroline looks so strong and consistent but Maria on the other hand, is on fire with her consistent serve, powerful groundstrokes, and low rates of unforced errors and double faults during her previous matches.

It all depends on who’s got the tougher mental attitude, and of course patience.

It will be an exciting match.

By the way, anyone watched last night’s match between Dementieva and Stosur? THE BEST MATCH in the women’s single so far!!!! I’m happy for both players.

  3. Ferondi, everything you send about Maria’s game wasn’t the case in the match against Caroline. 😛 Unforced errors, bad serve, …

Unfortunately I didn’t watch Dementieva vs. Stosur… I heard it was a fantastic match!
