This year is the 100th anniversary of the Fila sportswear brand and to celebrate it the originally Italian producer whose headquarters are now in Seoul is launching a collection inspired by the outfit Kim Clijsters received for Christmas when she was a child, in the mid 80s.
For the 2011 French Open, Fila dug into their achieves, searching for the outfit based on the description Clijsters provided. When they found it, they started working on it, updating the color palette and adorning it with a signature print design from the Belgian’s childhood kit.
Reminder: in January, during her Australian Open title run, Clijsters wore the Evonne Goolagong inspired clothes. Goolagong herself won the Australian Open four times, in the 70s.
I love this thing Fila is doing, its such a nice way to celebrate their history and previous champions.
On that note I thought I read this out fit was based on a Monica Seles outfit?
But then Kim has been quoted saying that these were the outfits she was getting under the christmas tree.
Either way its really nice way to celebrate their 100 years.
This is such a nice way for Fila to celebrate their 100 years with these tributes to previous outfits and past champions.
I love this idea they are doing.
On this outfit I also read it was a tribute to a Monica Seles outfit aswell http://tennisdresses.tumblr.com/post/5493138324/2011-french-open-preview-kim-clijsters-in
Either way I love this 100 year celebration.
But on this outfit, I am not a fan.
I love this idea by Fila to celebrate their 100th year of design. Its such a lovly moment to their previous champions and a nice look back at some of their earlier designs.
With this outfit I read it was also a tribute to a Monica Seles outfit? http://tennisdresses.tumblr.com/post/5493138324/2011-french-open-preview-kim-clijsters-in
That all being said…I really don’t like this outfit – just the purple spray thingy on the top
Aww, cute story, and cute outfit! 🙂

How much I miss you!
