Wozniacki ends mid-season slump at New Haven Open

At the tournament where Caroline Wozniacki is aiming for her fourth straight title the Dane rebounded from her US Open lead-up crisis by a convincing 6-3 6-0 victory over Slovenian Polona Hercog. At the last tournament before the New York Grand Slam, Wozniacki finally won a match, while at the preceding events of Toronto and Cincinnati the world No.1, who will be top seed at the US Open, suffered opening round losses.

To make things more interesting, Wozniacki’s opponent in the quarterfinal of the New Haven Open will be home favorite Christina McHale, who upset Wozniacki 6-4 7-5 last week at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati. Wildcard McHale has already made news this week, having beaten sixth seed Svetlana Kuznetsova in the first round and then rolling past Carla Suarez Navarro in the second.

Additional info: Adidas yesterday sent me this official photo of Wozniacki’s US Open dress. So, it will definitely be the white version of the dress, and not the light yellow dress. Also, they sent me the behind-the-scenes video of Wozniacki’s photo shoot for Stella McCartney Fall/Winter 2011.

  1. Caro’s dress works on her better than i expected. But why white? I was happy to finally see some change in colors.

  2. Mirjana, I’ve been thinking the same. White is for Wimbledon and US Open is always the colorful Grand Slam, why not use it for some more daring color palettes.

  3. I actually prefer her Wimbledon dress much more than this, i don’t like the white material going down in the middle of the chest at all…

It’s nice to see white in other tournaments i think, though she looked so great last year in the black and yellow.

Ivanovic is currently winning best dressed in the Adidas department for sure, those pinks and blues which are popular this year are winners! <3

  4. why white?? This year caroline wore white dresses at ao and wimby! Why also us open??? I prefer the yellow version for this slam!

  5. I agree with Jonathan, Ana’s dress is much nicer. In fact, she is usually wearing the best dresses. I think Caroline and the Stella designers should go the similar direction. I mean, Ana is older than Caroline but the dresses make it appear as if it was the other way around.
