Clijsters downs Wozniacki in both singles and doubles at Diamond Games

In her first match in four months Kim Clijsters, feeling “perhaps fitter than ever”, defeated world No.1 Caroline Wozniacki in a singles match-up at the 2011 Diamond Games exhibition, 6-2 7-6(5). The Belgian continued with a 6-2 6-1 victory in doubles, playing with her younger sister Elke Clijsters, an ITF Junior Doubles World Champion, while Wozniacki was teamed up with Belgian world No.26 Yanina Wickmayer.

The 10,000 spectators at the Antwerp Sports Palace were treated to a number of entertaining stunts.

The 28-year-old Clijsters has recovered from an abdominal injury and will go to Australia in two weeks, aiming to defend her Australian Open title.

Additional info: Last month at the Bratislava exhibition with Cibulkova, Wozniacki also treated fans to impersonations of WTA colleagues.

  1. Lets hope Clijsters can have an outstanding final year on the tour.
SHe will be playing Brisbane. The field at Brisbane will be very strong, since Serena and Maria have already committed to playing there, plus Kvitova is the defending champion. Lets see if she comes back to defend her title…

  2. The fact that Clijsters, coming back from injury, single handily defeats Wozniacki in 2 sets is more funny than the screaming.

  3. Gregoire, that’s why I sometimes find their relationship off-putting. They share their love on the social media sites a lot, but the way their relationship started wasn’t fair to Rory’s ex-girlfriend. I may dedicate an article on my blog to the story. Thanks for sharing!
