A big tennis exhibition featuring six WTA stars (including two Top 10 members) took place on December 16-18 in Singapore and Italian Flavia Pennetta walked away with a victory bowl, defeating Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska in the final 6-4 7-5. Pennetta ended the tournament with a 3-0 win-loss record and besides the older Polish sister she defeated Daniela Hantuchova and 2011 US Open winner Samantha Stosur.
Samantha Stosur, the field’s only Grand Slam singles champion, battled out for the third place and defeated Peng Shuai 2-6 6-4 6-4.
Thank you, On Court Advantage, for supplying us with all the information and photos!
Additional info: Talking about the 29-year-old Pennetta, today on Tennis.com I came across more of her revelations about the cheating of her ex-boyfriend, Carlos Moya, and how it affected her. The following excerpt is from her autobiography Dritto al Cuore (Straight to the Heart):
I put everything aside to support him. If you count the times I did it, probably the number is in itself ridiculous. My passion was him, I gave myself completely, and I lost my balance… People felt sorry for me and I could not even defend myself. It was as if I had lost my taste for things. I was trying to be numb towards life, not to feel pain. I did not even feel physical [pain]. A silly example: even when I was waxing, I did not even feel anything.
And here I thought players have long been complaining about the lack of an off-season. Guess I mis-heard.
Thank you Marija for adding the women’s tennis event in Singapore to your blog!
The runner-up at the Tournament of Champions in Bali, Anabel Medina Garrigues played in the quarter finals on Friday against Peng Shuai. Anabel, together with Daniela Hantuchova were very generous in helping three of my ITF Junior Tour girl’s students by playing points against them. Anabel and Daniela gave some career advice at the end of the tennis clinic we ran on Saturday morning before the semi finals began.
I have more photos (I was officially accredited media for this event), I posted another 6 photos that were taken on semi finals day here-> http://www.oncourtadvantage.com/tennis-in-singapore/singapore-tennis-womens-exhibition-semi-finals/
Have a Happy Christmas plus a Successful and Prosperous New Tennis Year 🙂
Kind regards,

Wow… Flavia is great! There’s an autobiography?! Why didn’t I knew about it?? I hope it’s avaiable in Germany…
Patricia, I’m not 100% sure but I think the book is available only in Italian right now. Let me know if you hear of a translation.
Marija? Do you know where I could buy the biography in english?
Marija, Yeah, a friend of mine told me today, there’s only the italian version at the moment… An english translation is planned, she said. So we have to wait… 🙁
