Victoria Azarenka comfortably won the first set of her opening match at Wimbledon, against world No.106 Maria Joao Koehler, but a point from going 2-0 up in the second, the Belarusian slipped on the grass and fell in a split, badly hurting her right knee. The second seed was lying on the court, screaming and crying loudly. RedFoo was helplessly watching from the stands.

Despite the pain and hampered movement, after the medical timeout Azarenka eventually won the match 6-1 6-2, as her opponent failed to capitalize on her lack of mobility. Here’s what the world No.2 said about the incident and her state:

I was in such pain in  beginning, it wouldn’t let go, think shock was part of it. [Shouldnt be so slippery] we’re not on clay.
