Maria Sharapova and her boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov together attended the birthday party of 75-year-old legendary tennis coach Robert Lansdorp, whose numerous students and friends came from all over the world to join the celebration at Torrance’s West End Racquet & Health Club on Saturday.

Sharapova and Dimitrov became official in May and this year has been a breakthrough year for the 22-year-old Bulgarian ATP player, who reached his career-high singles ranking of No.22 in October after winning his first ATP singles title at Stockholm Open and becoming the first Bulgarian to win an ATP World Tour title in the Open Era.

Moreover, Dimitrov is the most successful male tennis player from his country, both in terms of ranking and prize money, and this season he recorded more landmarks in his career: he became the only Bulgarian ATP player to reach the third round of a Grand Slam (at Roland Garros 2013) and beat world No.1 Novak Djokovic in Madrid for his first win over a top-ranked player.

All this success coincides with his relationship with the tennis and business force Sharapova, and, as I read at Tennis Earth, he admits it:

I believe I have proven those people who said that my romantic relationship with Maria hurt my play were wrong, I know I have proven that it is exactly the opposite.

As for Sharapova, she is traditionally spreading out – the Russian will work as a correspondent, offering insight and commentary for NBC Olympics and its coverage of Winter Games in her hometown of Sochi. (source: Standart)
