After ending the partnership with Thomas Hogstedt (current coach of Caroline Wozniacki) and a brief cooperation with Jimmy Connors following Wimbledon 2013, Maria Sharapova has hired Sven Groeneveld as her new coach.

Groeneveld is most famous for heading the Adidas Player Development Program within which he coached Ana Ivanovic on her way to her 2008 French Open title. In addition, the list of names Sven has worked with includes Caroline Wozniacki, Sorana Cirstea, Monica Seles, Mary Pierce, Fernando Verdasco and many others.

The 26-year-old Sharapova hasn’t competed since losing opener in Cincinnati and missing the rest of season with right shoulder injury, withdrawing from the US Open, Tokyo, Beijing and WTA Championships.
