Nadia Petrova's mother

I logged in to Twitter this morning and the first thing I saw was a retweet from Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova with shocking news that Nadia Petrova’s mother Nadezhda Ilyina, 64, died in a car crash on Saturday, December 7th. There still are no further details about where and when the accident happened.

Petrova’s mother was also a world-class athlete. She won a bronze medal at the 1976 Montreal Olympics in the 400 meter relay.

Condolences to Nadia and her family.

  1. So sorry about this. She accompanied Nadia everywhere and seemed such a nice lady. Plus was a good athlete in Soviet times.
