Nike Melbourne 2026

Debuting her Nike Premier Tunic Dress, Maria Sharapova advanced to the second round of the Australian Open with a 6-3 6-4 victory over always-colorfully-dressed Bethanie Mattek Sands.

The third-seeded Sharapova made nine double faults and 28 unforced errors, while her percentage of first serves was just 53. From an initial 4-0 lead, Sharapova gave Mattek Sands a chance to break back and approach her with two straight games won, but Sharapova kept the lead and took the set.

At 4-4 in the second set Sharapova earned a crucial break on her opponent’s double fault and soon wrapped up victory in the late but still hot match.

  1. Liz, I also noticed that! It looks like a regular dress on her and the shorts are not as dominant as I thought they would be. It’s a bit of a disappointment, though. It’s not that edgy.

  2. Hey Marija! The tunic dress seemed more a dress than a tunic the way Maria was wearing it… If you compare it to the model of tennis warehouse, I think Maria chose to make it a little longer or wear a size bigger….

  3. I was actually going to make the same comments, then I didn’t thinking I’d be nitpicking too much. Lol! But yeah… Maria was my last “hope” for the Nike collection. It looked a lot more daring in the promo pics. After seeing Serena’s, Vika’s and then Maria’s kits, I was thoroughly disappointed by Nike. They all look nice, but none of them are very memorable or refreshing.

  4. Zech, Nike is marketed better and has a wider range of clothes and more variety, but Adidas has had better designs for a long time, in my opinion.
