Agnieszka Radwanska

In tennis we always like to predict matches based on earlier results of players, but Agnieszka Radwanska defied all the statistical odds, beating Victoria Azarenka for the first time in the last eight tries and managed to win an Australian Open quarterfinal match for the first time in five attempts.

The first game Azarenka managed to win in the match was only in the sixth game, on her own serve, but Radwanska took the set right afterwards. The fifth-seeded Radwanska went up a break midway through the second set, but the second-seeded Azarenka hit back immediately and soon recorded a decisive break to stay in the match. The opening of the decider was on Azarenka’s serve and the Belarusian earned four game points, but Radwanska didn’t give away even that sole game to Azarenka and ended the two-time defending champion’s 18-match winning run with a 6-1 5-7 6-0 victory.

Radwanska’s semifinal opponent will be seed No.20 Dominika Cibulkova, who won eight consecutive games to storm past seed No.11 Simona Halep 6-3 6-0. Here’s how Halep described the quarterfinal:

Today I couldn’t enjoy, and it was a big shit for me, this match.

  1. Go head Agnieszka.
Fantastic match with Azarenka with a lot of tactics. Your tennis are so frech and intelligent and see your matchs are so refreshing compared others players where the game are only based on power. Your remeber me the tennis of Martina Hingis.
    We trust in you!
    Go head to the championship
