Anna Tatishvili becomes an American

2

World No.102 Anna Tatishvili, born in Tbilisi, Georgia, whose place of residence has been Boca Raton, Florida, is now officially the citizen of the United States. There is still no news whether she will play for her new country or continue to play for Georgia, but I assume the switch will be complete, especially if we consider the quote of her father Dimitry of seven years ago:

For me, if Anna is a good player, America has done it for her. Her English is very good, and we are working now four years with Chris [Evert]. I feel American. My sister has been an American citizen for 18 years.

The 24-year-old’s highest ranking was No.50 in October 2012.

There is no shortage of similar nationality switches in the WTA world: Varvara Lepchenko changed from Uzbekistan to the United States in 2007, while South-African-born Liezel Huber has been a naturalized American citizen since July 2007.
