Errani downs JJ for Rome finals

Sara Errani

Sara Errani gave little chance to two-time champion and world No.8 Jelena Jankovic in the semifinals of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia and advanced to the title match with a 6-3 7-5 victory. In the quarterfinals Errani ousted world No.2 Li Na and this mini streak of two wins, one over a Top 5 player and one over a Top 10 name, is the best in the Italian’s career.

Even though Jankovic saved as much as nine break points in the first set, the two break points that Errani did convert were enough to bring her to the victory in that set, especially that second converted break point that came in the long sixth game in which Errani earned a 4-2 lead. Jankovic reignited the hopes of her fans when she won the first seven points of the second set for a 1-0 40-0 lead and three break points, but Errani didn’t give that game away, leveled at 1-1, and even though JJ fought to a 4-1 lead, soon she found herself trailing 4-5 and after some late resistance by the Serb, the Italian eventually celebrated the triumph.

Like the winner’s fashion choice? It’s the grey version of the Nike Women’s Summer Printed Pleated Woven Skort and a classic black Nike Women’s Summer Advantage Solid Tank.
