The final of the Generali Ladies Linz will be a match-up of world No.43 Camila Giorgi of Italy and world No.30 Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic, both aged 22.

In today’s semifinals, Giorgi won six straight games to finish off Karin Knapp 6-4 6-2, while the seventh-seeded Pliskova won the last five games of her three-setter against Anna-Lena Friedsam to come from 3-1 down in the decider and triumph 2-6 6-3 6-3.

Giorgi is chasing her first career title, having lost the final of Katowice earlier this year, while Pliskova is looking for her third, having previously won Kuala Lumpur 2013 and Seoul 2014.

There are also two Asian tournaments played this week and also with the prize money of $250,000. At the Japan Women’s Open Tennis, top seed Samantha Stosur, who has won the tournament in 2009 and 2013, will face fifth seed Zarina Diyas in the final, while at the inaugural Tianjin Open third-seeded 17-year-old Belinda Bencic will try to become the youngest WTA champion in eight years in the final against sixth-seeded Alison Riske.
