Unlike most brands that decide to launch their new staff at the Australian Open and clothe their players in last year’s apparel at the tournaments leading up to Melbourne, Venus Williams was eager to showcase her new EleVen collection right at the start of the 2015 season and it accompanied her all the way to the Auckland title, where she beat top seed Caroline Wozniacki in the final.
Now that the collection has finally become available at retail, let’s have a closer look at some items.
The Ola collection, as it is called, features solids and prints, basically combining just three colors: teal, black and white.
During her week in Auckland, Venus combined separates: in her title match the seven-time Grand Slam champion worked the EleVen Ola Print Love Tank with a style similar to the EleVen Ola Accelerate Skirt, while we could also see her in the EleVen Ola Tie It Up Tank, featuring cute thin crossing straps adorned by a lightly-sewn printed tie in back (my favorite top from the collection!), and the EleVen Ola Print Get Going Skirt.
Now we’re approaching the big thing, what will the big Williams sis wear at the Australian Open? Probably one of these two dresses, actually, she’s likely to wear both, in my opinion, as she’s not like players representing huge brands sticking to one and only design dedicated to them.
The EleVen Ola Print Aussie Dress features a V-neck imitation, figure-flattering trim at the waist, plus, to my liking Venus has continued to play with back designs and now we have a decorative use of teal trim on V-shaped back.
The EleVen Ola Aussie Dress is actually very similar, but due to its hardly-visible V-neck imitation you get a completely different look, and I have to say I prefer the printed version this time.
And oh, I almost forgot, there’s this cute EleVen Ola Print Headband as well.
What do you think? Will Venus rule the Australian Open courts in these designs?
Have a look at what Fila, Adidas and Nike have prepared for the 2015 Australian Open:
- Adidas Spring Barricade by Stella McCartney collection for Caroline Wozniacki
- Fila Platinum collection for Jelena Jankovic‘s and Julia Goerges‘ Australian Open campaigns
- Nike‘s styles for Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams and Vika Azarenka
- A close look at Ana Ivanovic‘s 2015 Australian Open dress and the rest of Adidas Adizero spring clothes
UPDATE: Here’s Venus posing in her dress for the 2015 Australian Open.
beautiful collection 😀 hope she goes deep in the tournament so that we can see them in action for a long time
Sru, IMO EleVen is still lagging behind Nike and Adidas, but Venus has made a huge leap since the start of EleVen and this collection confirms that. I prefer the separates over the dresses this time and my pick would be the strap tank with a super cute back tie and the printed skirt.
yes, She’s lagging and i believe it’ll take her some time to catch up but she’s totally in right direction she’s been making adorable dresses past few years. Her collection used to attract people for wrong reasons but not anymore . I hope her collection in future includes dresses other than prints like that green one that would be refreshing.Even I believe EleVen is more of a seperates type of brand rather than dresses even though her dresses are fun too..
Sru, that’s exactly what I’ve been talking about, she’s shifted from “all the wrong reasons” to the right direction and now she just has to march on that road to catch up with Adidas and Nike. She’s very competitive, though. Her designs are good overall and certain pieces are definitely shoulder to shoulder with certain Nike or Adidas pieces, at least when it comes to style.
her wimbledon dress def went shoulder to shoulder with nike & adidas she jus needs more Hit designs like that
Her Ola Collection is my second favorite amongst her EleVen apparel. She is currently in the right direction and I hope she maintains her consistency in producing quality and pretty tennis dresses. I really like the AO dress. I know it will be in the best dressed list this year.
Emman Damian, and now that Jarmila Gajdosova has finally advanced to the AO R2, the collection is receiving the extra exposure it deserves.
Sru, true. That dress was definitely the best design of Wimbledon 2014, Nike and Adidas included, and for sure one of the best dresses of the entire season.
Liz, I like it that she didn’t use many colors, but still achieved fun styles.
I think many of the eleven dresses last year were better than Nike’s. Nike Tennis has been very boring for a while. Let’s hope they do better this year.
I love the coloring and the print! I prefer the separates of this line I guess.. 🙂
Sabey, I definitely agree, but I find their AO 2015 collection refreshing and not boring, so as far as I’m concerned, they have already improved this year.
I agree. I’m so sure we will be seeing a lot of EleVen dresses on big events such as the grand slams and premiere events.
Emman Damian, for sure. It’s close to being shoulder to shoulder with Nike and Adidas in terms of design, and actually her marketing is good as well!
