As promised, this week is very busy with US Open fashion updates at Women’s Tennis Blog and there’s even more to come, since I am expecting official information from EleVen and I’m yet to publish the story I prepared about Heather Watson’s New Balance kit, etc.
A couple of days ago I showed you the New York dresses of Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams, but now Nike has released more information regarding the world number one’s US Open fashion. Namely, honoring the American’s quest to complete the Calendar Slam, NikeCourt introduced the “Greatness Collection”, one part of which is the Premier Dress that I have already covered in detail, while now I will show you other pieces.
Nike, Inc. President and CEO Mark Parker has been close to Serena for years and he directed designers to create apparel that captures Serena’s personality. Parker chose Nike Safari and marble prints to reflect Serena’s unprecedented power and strength. Moreover, the sockliner of the shoes and the inside lining of the jacket feature the champion’s quote: “You are strong, powerful and beautiful”.
There are three styles of shoes: the NikeCourt Flare, NikeCourt Air Max 1 Ultra and NikeCourt Roshe LD-1000. In the photo above you can see Serena in the NikeCourt Flare limited-edition shoes and she will also wear them in New York.
Similar to Maria Sharapova’s US Open dress, the Greatness Collection is largely black and white, as is its NikeCourt Bomber Jacket.
The collection is available as of today at select NikeLab stores and on nike.com/nikelab.
This is great! I am so glad that Nike is finally giving Serena the importance she has earned. Those shoes rock!
Any idea what the day dress will be like?
The New York Times has more on this here:

The back is great on the dress, and even though snakeskin isn’t the most wearable, it looks cool on the sneakers. Hope the day time dresses from nike are released soon!
Sabey, Ga, as said in The New York Times article, the day dress will be the same, just in ligher colors.
I love the jacket! What an improvement over that awful blazer she was wearing before.
I like the back of the dress. The jacket looks nice too.
