Things are starting to heat up at the 2016 US Open as the tournament entered the third singles round on Friday.
While world #2 Angelique Kerber and two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova moved on with no trouble, last year’s finalist Roberta Vinci had a bigger challenge on her hands, as the Italian needed three sets to edge Germany’s Carina Witthöft.
