Monday at the 2016 Generali Ladies Linz provided plenty of variety as the event kicked into higher gear.
In the morning, the tournament’s qualifying stage completed with Mandy Minella, Kristyna Pliskova, Oceane Dodin & Sara Sorribes Tormo making the packed main draw.
Afterwards, the opening main draw matches were played and the tournament started off with a bunch of surprising results, including Laura Siegemund’s loss to Viktorija Golubic and Sorana Cirstea’s comprehensive win over #6 seed Kiki Bertens.
While Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova was still busy playing her evening match, the players gathered for the players’ party, dressed in t-shirts showing their national colors. On the way to the party, players were challenged with fun games like tennis-ball bowling and hula-hoop that got everyone in a proper party mood.
First-round play at the 2016 Generali Ladies Linz will continue tomorrow, so keep checking back to Women’s Tennis Blog for more from Austria.
