The US Open officially begins on August 28th, but our photographer Jimmie48 is already there, capturing the qualifying stage of the tournament and practices of top players.
On Tuesday he documented WTA mom Vera Zvonareva‘s continued comeback, as the Russian advanced to the second round of qualifying with a 7-6(4) 6-1 victory over Han Xinyun. Stanford champion Madison Keys and Toronto champion Elina Svitolina are already in New York, practicing for the final Grand Slam of the season.
Vera is really playing well. I hope she qualifies for US Open.
