All eyes were on Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka at the BNP Paribas Open on Thursday and the Grand Slam champions, who clashed in the Indian Wells final just two years ago (which produced some epic photos!), successfully kicked off the 2018 edition of the tournament by winning their first-round matches.
Playing her first WTA match since winning the Australian Open in January 2017 and becoming a mom, Serena Williams defeated Zarina Diyas 7-5 6-3, while Leo’s mom Victoria Azarenka, who, due to a custody battle, played her last competitive tennis match at Wimbledon 2017, got past Heather Watson 6-4 6-2. Our photographer Jimmie48 was right there to bring us the atmosphere from these landmark matches, while he also photographed Caroline Wozniacki, Caroline Garcia, Venus Williams and Jelena Ostapenko at the All-Access Hour, as well as the doubles match of the Pliskova twins. Enjoy the gallery!
