This week, Elena Vesnina joined the WTA moms club, giving birth to her first child, a baby girl named Elizaveta Tabuntsova.
The 32-year-old Vesnina publicly announced her pregnancy some two months ago and on Tuesday, November 20th, the Russian shared this photo from her delivery room, saying:
When you took your first breath, you took ours away.
Vesnina has been married to Pavel Tabuntsov for three years now. When it comes to her career, it is on hold now, but she has a protected WTA ranking which she will be eligible to use within three years of any decision she makes to resume her pro tennis life.
As you know, the whole WTA has been swept by baby boom, but the Russian camp is especially busy. Nadia Petrova gave birth to a baby girl in late July, Anna Chakvetadze is a new mom, as well as Vera Dushevina, while Russian-born Kazakh Yaroslava Shvedova gave birth to twins less than two months ago. Next up is Alla Kudryavtseva, who is now in her ninth month of pregnancy.
Sania Mirza had a baby boy in October.
Ajit, I wrote about it a month ago: https://womenstennisblog.com/2018/10/30/sania-mirza-gives-birth-to-baby-boy/
