Serena Williams presented her Spring 2020 collection on Wednesday morning in New York and her friend Caroline Wozniacki was not only there to help her during the preparation process, but the recently-retired tennis star also worked the runway in a giraffe-print dress at Spring Studios as part of New York Fashion Week.
As Fashionista reports, the show featured a chat between Serena Williams and legendary Vogue editor Anna Wintour, where the tennis star explained her fashion background dating back to 2000:
I went to fashion school, I like to say, between winning Wimbledons and US Opens. It was a natural step for me — I didn’t even think about it. I was like, ‘I’m going to fashion school, I’m going to art school. I know that’s what I want to do.’ And now I’m here.
By the way, a day earlier, Anna Wintour attended the Vera Wang fashion show with Maria Sharapova.
The new S by Serena collection was inspired by travel: easy separates that can be worn together in various ways, giraffe prints, vegan leather, sequined pieces with cut-outs.
Besides Wintour, the fashion show attracted a number of editors, influential figures and designers, including model Karlie Kloss.
What do you think of Caro as a model?
The Spring 2020 collection is available at the S by Serena website.
Caro would be a good photo model, but her runway walk seemed stiff..
Ian, I agree, but that’s fine, it’s not her job anyway.
I thought she wasn’t too bad for a first try. Don’t like the dress though.
