August’s Rogers Cup in Montreal the latest WTA tournament to be canceled

The WTA season is officially suspended at least until July 13th, but the latest news is that the August 7th-16th Rogers Cup in Montreal has been postponed to 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Premier 5 tournament informed the fans on Twitter:

Following the measures imposed by government authorities in the province of Quebec, Tennis Canada announces the postponement of the Rogers Cup in Montreal.

Next year, the women’s event in Montreal will take place from August 6th to August 15th.

    Just sad/disappointed because I live in Montreal and I was looking forward to the tournament! Well, next year…!

    Obviously the health and safety of everyone is more important than a tennis tournament…!!!

I keep on forgetting about Montreal, such a great city and I have family a few hours south from the city, so this might be an idea for a vacation since it looks like all three this year will be postponed. Be safe readers and Marija. Montreal is also one of the closest tourneys to me in Minnesota.
