The city of Ostrava will host a Premier-level tournament set to take place in the second half of October, increasing the number of events in the post-COVID-pause calendar to 13.
The J&T Banka Ostrava Open will be an indoor hardcourt tournament taking place in the Ostravar Arena from October 19th to October 25th. The prize money will be $528,500.
The field will include 28 singles players and 16 doubles teams. Moreover, there will be two days of qualifying before the main-draw play kicks offs.
After the Tour resumption on August 3rd, the Czech Republic hosted the Prague Open (Simona Halep won the title) and there was also a WTA 125K Series tournament in Prague (Kristina Kucova is the champion), but that one wasn’t included in those 13 tournaments mentioned in the beginning, as it was not a Tour-level event.
After the ongoing US Open and TEB BNP Paribas Tennis Championships Istanbul, the tournament order is the following: Rome, Strasbourg, Roland Garros, Ostrava, Seoul, Linz and Moscow. (source: WTA)
